Due to ongoing limitations on travel and gatherings, we are unable to present our traditional, in-person Imaginations Design Competition this year. We remain committed to this important initiative and are currently assessing the potential of a modified experience. Thank you for your interest, and please continue to check back for updates.

Who Can Enter

  1. Teams must consist of at least two and no more than four participants.
  2. To qualify, each team participant must meet the following requirements:
    • Be a student at least 18 years of age with junior, senior or equivalent standing or full-time graduate student in a college or university in the United States AND currently enrolled in one of the disciplines listed below as evidenced by the verification letter;
      OR a graduate from a college in the United States who is a resident (permanent or temporary) of the United States for the duration of the competition and graduated no earlier than Spring 2019 in one of the disciplines listed below as evidenced by the verification letter;

  3. For valid entry, each registration form must be signed by each participant and an authorized representative from their college or university.
  4. Previous finalists in the Imaginations Design Competition who have presented a submission at Walt Disney Imagineering are not eligible to participate.
  5. Current or former employees or contractors of Walt Disney Imagineering and Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development, Inc. and their immediate family are not eligible for this competition. Current and former participants in the Disney College Program are eligible to participate provided all eligibility requirements are met.
  6. All team members must agree to and abide by the Competition Terms and Conditions and other applicable rules. Failure to do so may result in disqualification of individual team members or the entire team.

Competition Terms and Conditions

Submitted ideas must be original and solely the work of the team participants. Participants cannot be on more than one team. Only one project per team will be accepted.

Incomplete applications, or those with documents that do not clearly indicate current enrollment or recent graduation, standing and major/minor/concentration by the application deadline, will be automatically disqualified.

All team members must meet competition eligibility requirements posted on the Imaginations website by the application deadline and must also be available to participate in the final competition.

In consideration for the opportunity to win an all-expenses-paid-trip to Walt Disney Imagineering, to be considered for an internship opportunity, the opportunity to win a cash prize and for the opportunity for the university or association or organization whose signature(s) appears on the submitted registration form to receive a $1,000 grant (to be split equally among the universities, associations and/or organizations represented by the team) if your entry is adjudged the first place winner, all team members understand and agree that any and all submissions will become the sole property of Walt Disney Imagineering and will not be returned. All rights to use these ideas will be retained by Walt Disney Imagineering without expectation by any team member or university/organization represented of other consideration. In addition, each university represented in the Imaginations competition hereby consents to Walt Disney Imagineering’s use of such university’s name in connection with the advertising and promotion of the Imaginations competition at Walt Disney Imagineering’s sole and exclusive discretion.

The airfare for the trip to Walt Disney Imagineering for competition finalists will be roundtrip from a major metropolitan airport near each finalist’s school or permanent residence address.

Any offer of an internship or other employment opportunity is expressly contingent on the entrant’s eligibility for employment in the United States.

All team members must agree to and abide by the competition Terms & Conditions and other applicable rules. Failure to do so may result in disqualification of individual team members or entire team.

Walt Disney Imagineering reserves the right to disqualify a team and/or not to offer an internship opportunity.
